Characters VS Conflict: Preston Marshall, Author of When Darkness Reigns. S2, E10

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit-”, “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much-”, and “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times-”

From the first sentence in each book to the last word, all authors weave tales word by word, building a fully furnished world for each reader to take refuge in. Whether that home is in a hole in the ground, number four Privet Drive, or in one of Two Cities, we all escape this world to go on adventures within the covers of books. Creating these worlds, these characters, and these conflicts is a matter of resolve. The perfectly crafted words, actions, and arcs comes only through time, repetition, and constant reflection. The great authors wake up daily to devote a great portion of their time and mental faculties to their books.
