Zachary Burns is the man you want to have on set when making a film. From being extraordinarily knowledgeable about the in’s and out’s of the stages of making films, to having a keen photographic eye whose images will make your film’s posters irresistible to audiences. Is there such thing a feature film consultant? If not, this would be the man to make that title and help usher a film through inception to distribution.

Zachary tells us a little bit of his back story leading up to his current journey as an artist by way of starting as a photographer. He was a senior in highschool, playing with a “crappy point and shoot camera” and learning the art of the perfect angle and the various quirks of cameras. Finding that this was his passion, he chose to pursue that passion in and through college.

Zachary and his brother, Jacob, began making films with their good friend Vinnie Hogan in college. Vinnie was just starting out as a composer and was looking to make a film while in school. While Jacob always knew that he would be making films, this was a more recent awakening for both Zachary and Vinnie. Pooling their talents together they set out and made a phenomenal and hilarious feature film, “The Fable of Shannon Cable.” While the trailer for the film is SUPER cheesy, I would say that hands-down this is a must see indie film. You will love the comedic timing, the chemistry between actors, the cheap and loveable set pieces, and the musical numbers will be stuck in your head for MONTHS after. (Seriously, I watched this film in like September 2016 and some songs are still there -it’s April 2017.)

Zachary took his time honing his skills as a photographer and got several gigs for his graphic design work and began making movie posters. His talent was quickly realized and people flocked to him to get their poster made.

Enter Electric Nostalgia. The brain child of Jacob Burns, Zach took to this film with a vigor. Reprising his role as a producer on this film, as he was a producer on The Fable of Shannon Cable, he set out to make this film a must see with a thrilling social media campaign that was so far spread that it’s world premiere at DeadCenter Film Festival was full up within the first hour that the line opened and the encore screening was just as packed as the first night.

Zachary and Jacob recently helped Laron Chapman (see Season 1, episode 10) make his first feature film, “You People” and have since been releasing photos from the film and I’ve got to say, i’m excited for it. This dynamic duo seem to have the midas touch.

Zachary also recently made an art installation called Fleeting Light. This exhibit showed people how he sees life through one that is normal and the other is legally blind. Using two of the same cameras with different lenses, he was able to take the perspective of one’s vision and blur it in the viewer’s left eye. Ever walk a mile in someone’s shoes? Try a few minutes seeing through someone’s eyes. It will literally change your perception.

Using disability to advantage: This OKC photographer has a unique way of seeing his world.

Vinnie Hogan, Zachary, and Jacob Burns are soon to team up on a hilarious Sci-Fi Comedy Drama ‘Werewolf Scout’ where a group of boy scouts learn that their scout leader is a werewolf and dark shenanigans ensue. Again, super stoked to check this film out.

All in all, Zachary is an amazing artist that you need to keep an eye on.
